In the glow

Fireflies glide past me
the breeze caresses my face
lavender soaks the air around me
darkness descends as you rise.

Glowing, full and bright
against the indigo sky
beckoning me inside
your luminous orb
inviting me to get lost
in your lustrous caverns.

Lured by your mysteries,
I waft on moonbeams
float through the ether
the city landscape recedes
silence envelops me.

I consider the craters
curvatures of a foreign land
I’ll never see
but drawn to over and over
as your face rises in the west
as you change form
again and then again
a sliver, a crescent, an orb.

A reminder that lunar phases
like life — wax and wane
waning phases mean rest
waxing phases mean accelerate
the dynamic nature of all organisms
don’t fret you say
if this one doesn’t suit, another comes soon
flow with it
like the wind grabs a leaf
depositing it elsewhere.

Trust where you land.
