Did You Make the Right Choice? Here’s How to Know
It’s estimated that you make 35,000 decisions a day. While most of those are inconsequential, there’s a small slice which require more complex thinking and are so crucial that they can really pile on the stress especially when it’s between two good choices.
How do you evaluate a decision after it’s been made? It’s so easy to go back and forth, wondering if we made the decisions, especially if you’re prone to worry or anxiety like I am. For some of us, the hardest part of decision making might be what happens after the decision has been made. Post-decision can be a most treacherous time where questioning the choice can be its strongest.Thinking that the choice has been made and thus the process over, the stress can sneak up on the unsuspecting decision maker. At this point it’s easy to get trapped into “sunk cost” rationalizations or fear of having to announce that you’ve made a mistake. What you need is a way to know if you’ve selected right so you can either dig into the new adventure wholeheartedly or step off to a new frontier.
How do know if you’ve made a good decision
I got lucky. When I was young my dad gave us kids a simple tool to help us figure out when we’d made a good decision and when it wasn’t so good. It’s reduced the amount of post-anxiety I experience.
